Membership

    The Capital Area HR Association has approximately 200 members, and any person who is working primarily in the Human Resources area is eligible to join the chapter.

    Capital Area HR Association chapter dues are $150 annually (calendar year January - December). Renewal of membership is required in January every year.  The cost of the lunch at the monthly meetings is included in the dues.

    We offer three (3) different levels of membership:

    • Professional Member ($150): Individuals engaged in human resources management with at least three years of experience at the exempt level; certified by the  Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) or Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI); a faculty member with three or more years' experience holding at least assistant professor rank in human resources; a full-time consultant with at least three years' experience as an HR practitioner; or full-time attorney with at least three years' experience in counseling and advising clients on matters relation to the HR profession. Professional members may vote and hold office. If joining as a Professional Member after June 30th, dues will be $80.00.
    • Associate Member ($150): Individuals interested in the field of HR Management but do not meet the requirements as a Professional Member. Associate members may vote but may not hold office. If joining as an Associate Member after June 30th, dues will be $80.00
    • Student Member ($75): Individuals enrolled as a full-time student with a major in HR Management or related area at an accredited college or university. Student members may not vote or hold office. If joining as a student member after June 30th, dues will be $50.

    National SHRM dues are $199, and this includes access to research papers, job postings, professional assistance, and discounted SHRM conference fees and SHRM Store purchases. Local members do not have to belong to the national SHRM to be members of the local chapter.
